Businesses across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are being invited to look to the future and create a better tomorrow for people and the planet by coming together for the first county-level event of its kind in the UK.
Taking place at the Eden Project on Tuesday 26th April, Cornwall Boardroom2030 will see Cornwall lead the way in inspiring businesses to imagine what 2030 looks like. The critical role boardrooms play and the power they hold in making a difference is at the heart of the forward-thinking event. Businesses will explore how inviting new voices to the boardroom can shake up decision making and how thinking differently can help organisations to act boldly to unlock a better future.
Promising to be energising, interactive and change-making, attendees will hear from businesses who are already benefiting from broadening the diversity and perspective of their boards. These pioneers are listening to the voices of young people and involving employees, customers, suppliers and their local communities in conversations about tackling challenges. They will facilitated on the day by Charlotte Sewell, who led the Boardroom2030 project alongside B Lab UK at COP26.
The event is part of a UK-wide Boardroom2030 campaign created by B Lab UK and is being spearheaded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly by certified B Corporation Leap and the world-renowned Eden Project and friends. Every decision maker at every Cornwall business is invited whether you have a board or not.
Matt Hocking, Founder and Creative Sustainability Officer, Leap, comments: “Cornwall Boardroom 2030 will be a brilliant event for businesses. We will be shining a light on the power of business to address the challenges facing people and our planet where Boardrooms can play a critical role. It is a day to break away from the mould of traditional decision-making to listen to the voices of all stakeholders. It will bring businesses together as a collective to futureproof and redefine.
“Cornish businesses will be amazing at this and with collaboration being our superpower, we already have a head start. I can’t wait to see what the day unfolds with Charlotte Sewell, and to trailblaze the very first county-level activation. Every person in every business has the power to make a difference, to be part of the solution and to do things better.”
Eden Project’s Chief Activation Officer, Si Bellamy, adds: “This is a real opportunity for diverse organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to come together to explore how reinvigorating boardrooms and how decisions are made. We can co-design a better future for people and planet.
“Taking a step back and looking ahead will help us connect to what matters and lean into the most pressing challenges. I am looking forward to learning from others, seeing comfort-zones pushed and kick-starting a future that we can be proud of.”
Cornwall Boardroom2030 is delivered by B Corp businesses but is open to organisations of all shapes and sizes – whether B Corp or not. Tickets are available in return for a donation and include lunch and entry to the Eden Project after the event.
