Cornwall Trade and Investment (CTI) exists to attract business investment into the region and promote Cornwall & IoS as a leading, credible destination for businesses. It also provides export support to Cornwall & IoS based businesses looking to export their products and services to the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond.
In the new one-minute film, From Cornwall, Exported to the World, businesses who currently export products out of Cornwall inspire others in the region to do the same. Featured companies include Tregothnan Tea, Tarquins Cornish Gin and tech start-up Data Duopoly.
CTI is planning a schedule of physical and virtual export events for Cornwall-based businesses, all of which will be published on the website for organisations to book throughout the year.
The events will focus on different industries and cover a variety of topics, including how to build international relationships – specifically for food and drink exporters interested in the area from Middle East to Asia, and for the tech sector, identifying opportunities in Northern America and Scandinavia.
“Cornwall is bursting with creative, innovative businesses with huge potential. We’re delighted to be featured in Cornwall Trade and Investments latest campaign ‘From Cornwall, Exported to the World’ – helping to inspire the regions talented business community to export their products and services internationally, and showcase Cornwall on a global stage”
Jonathon Jones, Managing Director Trading, Tregothnan
The economic impact of export on the regional economy is significant: in 2019, exports of goods from Cornwall totalled £621 million – £388 million of which was traded within Europe. In 2018, service exports totalled £899 million.
It is hoped the video will encourage businesses in the region who are considering exporting to take part in some of the trade missions and events and speak to Cornwall Trade & Investment about opportunities they could explore.
The new series of trade missions begins with a virtual mission to Europe on 22nd & 23rd March, supporting businesses seeking to export non-perishable goods (this could include anything from food and drink, books, sports and outdoor, home and kitchen, to stationery and office supplies, clothing and fashion, arts and crafts, and health and beauty). Contact kim.knowles@cornwallti.com for more details on this specific mission.
