Oltco, the UK’s leading sustainable resin driveway company, is expanding its sustainable offering by switching from using plastic resin packaging to recyclable metal tins. This coincides with Oltco’s current innovative and award-winning sustainable resin driveway solution, Recycle Bound.
With Oltco’s HQ based in Newquay, Directors Tom Stringer and Johnny Pearce, have always been aware of the damaging impact waste plastic has on the environment. This led the duo to launch Recycle Bound, the world’s first sustainable resin driveway solution made utilising waste plastic that is already in circulation, and what has now driven the pair to take their commitment one step further by eradicating plastic from their resin packaging.
With Cornwall’s rich history in the tin mining industry due to the county’s metallic mineral rich landscape, Oltco is proud to be connected to this long lineage of history by choosing tin for its new packaging.
Since it was founded in 2004, Oltco has grown a wide network of franchisees and employees and Johnny and Tom wanted to include the entire team during this process. The new packaging has been tried and tested on site with Oltco’s franchisees to ensure that it is suitable for the job and has been met with resounding success.
Johnny Pearce, Co-Director says: “This was an easy decision for us but one that took a lot of time to finalise, and we couldn’t be more excited with the results.
More companies should be choosing the planet over profit and we’re proud to be doing just that.
“In business, it is common for people to make short-term decisions to bring about fast results with the sole aim of increasing profit. At Oltco we look to the future and want to make sure we are delivering the best results for our customers, our team and the planet. We’re proud to be a business that fights for change and one that focuses on the triple bottom line (people, planet and profit)”
Tom Stringer, Co-Director adds: “This launch not only means a lot to Johnny and I but also to our wider Oltco network. We discussed the new packaging with each member of the Oltco team and found their insight incredibly valuable. Their feedback filled us with every confidence as we received a unanimous ‘of course we should do this.’ It means so much to us to have the support from our Oltco family.
“This new packaging launch fits perfectly with our ethos ‘to feel good about the work that we do and the decisions that we make,’ and it demonstrates our continued commitment to protecting the environment. We hope our customers love this new packaging as much as we do!”
