Cornwall Trade and Investment have developed a marketing campaign to attract innovative, progressive, ‘Next Generation’ businesses into the region. The campaign highlights the existing business community and focuses on delivering five key messages; businesses, entrepreneurs, workforce, jobs and lifestyle.
As part of a wider marketing campaign, Cornwall Trade and Investment, alongside the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, have partnered with JCDecaux’s ‘Nurture’ programme to run the “Cornwall: for the next generation” campaign on digital screens across selected sites throughout London – the intent is to provide Cornwall based business with exposure outside of Cornwall, as well as inspiring others to choose Cornwall as a location for their business.
Traditionally, Cornwall has been known as a quaint holiday destination. But its public image of sea shells, sandcastles, and second homes belies the tech industry revolution bubbling under its surface.
Less well known, is that Cornwall is home to the most visionary thinkers and one of the best tech enabled regions in Europe. Since the mining of tin that ushered in the Bronze age, Cornwall has consistently produced technological advances. It is home to many firsts: the world’s first railway journey and the first satellite TV broadcast. It is home to the invention of limelight and the safety fuse.
Today, Cornwall continues to embrace this independent pioneering spirit that fosters innovation. It is home to Goonhilly Earth Station, one of the most recognised names in the Space Industry, to Falmouth University, one of the UK’s best arts universities, to Wave Hub, the world’s most advanced marine renewables testing site. Cornwall’s tech economy is flourishing, growing at a rate that outperforms the rest of the country. Until recently, this story of progressive technology, innovative people and future-facing business, was buried beneath the region’s cutesy touristic brand.
This campaign showcases how Cornwall is an inspiring, ambitious region for business owners to locate to – how it’s a global centre for modern business. It’s not just for anyone. It’s for innovators. It’s for people who want to challenge the norm. For enlightened businesses who are ready to rethink workstyle. For businesses who want a happy, more productive team. For businesses who want to thrive on innovation and flourish in a connected ecosystem. It’s for people who love where they work as much as the work they do.
That’s what makes the region a magnetic place full of opportunities for business owners and pioneers. Through case studies and business stories, this campaign celebrates the landscape and the lifestyle that has enabled successful, innovative companies to position themselves in Cornwall. It is a window into the people and the infrastructure that make Cornwall what it is today, for new kinds of businesses that deliver cutting-edge advances and push the boundaries.
